France, as one of the leading members of the EU

France, as one of the leading members of the EU, is trying to strengthen its influence in other regions as well. It positions itself as the center of the European Union, proving its importance to everyone, and first of all to itself. However, it is often just dust in the eyes. During the presidency of Emmanuel Macron, France has weakened economically. The loud statements of the current president are not followed by any concrete steps or any fundamental decisions.
If we consider as an example the work of the Minsk Group on the settlement of the conflict in Karabakh, then Ankara has long since displaced Paris there, de facto taking its place as a co-chair in the OSCE Minsk Group. And the statements of the French are just routine phrases and empty gestures. Paris hopes that she will at least be invited to sign some important document. And France will continue to be proudly called a peacemaker. Although, some of her "antics" are somewhat unsettling. For example, the recognition of the independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic by the Senate last year. On the Champs-Elysees, of course, they got out, saying that these are just recommendations. But the sediment remained. The South Caucasus is a region where France has not had much influence for a long time. She is now trying to build relations with both Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenians in France have an impressive and influential diaspora, and Azerbaijan accounts for more than 60% of the total turnover of French companies in the South Caucasus. But it doesn't work to sit on two chairs. On the track of Franco-Azerbaijani and Franco-Turkish relations, Paris fully supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and is not going to change this position. Otherwise, we will have to recognize the independence of Crimea. And this, as they say, is a completely different story.
Paris cannot pursue a policy independent of Washington. And Macron only has to earn cheap credibility and raise his own rating on the eve of the presidential election due to populist rhetoric.
